I feel like he was very shocked that vhagar bit arryx but i feel like his concern was more for himself than luke. Even in the show he doesnt really giv af about anyone except maybe interest in heleana. So the same kind of malice i feel was there, maybe a bit diluted but that scene in the show didnt convince me he felt remorse for killing Luke. If it was a man drinking because of the stress, cheating on his wife abd ignoring their children, he would be forgiven because he is just well written character and he has such an important job. But a woman has to be a perfect ruler, perfect mother, perfect wife and look perfect all her life

Technically, the books do not push an objective truth or perspective. GRRM has said in the past that the show is definitive and canon.

It's unfair to make this comparison. Fire and Blood is written from an "in universe" historian's perspective, not the perspective of an all-knowing author speaking through the experiences of the characters. It reads like a Wikipedia page - details are sparse, and even the details we get are intended to be taken with a grain of salt, as no one "in universe" really knows. In the show, Aemond returns to the Red Keep showing little remorse and acting as if it was all intentional, as if he hadn't lost control of his dragon. Therefore, the history books would go off that rather than the true version of events he's hiding.

Rhaenyra, Daemon and Laena are heavily hinted to have threesomes in the book. The sex lives of these characters are a mess.

You also have to remember the story in the book is being told by maestors and not by the characters themselves. The story is written by what history and other witnesses spoke of. Since no one was on dragon back to see the outcome of aemonds actions no one can say if he truly cared or didnt care about what he did.

The fact that Aemond did not mean to kill Lucerys is better, That make the starting of the war like a fatality, and Above all, that show how the Dragons are imprevisible and that they don't control them at all

What are you talking about? The book is written as though it's a history text. The "characters" are pieced together by biased, contradictory and unreliable sources. The person writing it even stressed we have NO CLUE what any of these people were really like or was going through their minds. Of course Alicent and Aemond get villainous upgrades like Richard III in the book, but the book itself tells you that they probably weren't really like that. The show is presenting them as actual people not an amalgamation of historical texts.

There's a dragon boss in the new elden ring dlc that looks exactly like the one depicted in fire and blood/rise of the dragon books. It's also called Bayle the dread, very similar to Balerion the dread. George R. R. Martin helped write the lore for elden ring too so I that was cool.

Ironically, I feel like they make both less sympathetic by changing their characters to basically this “I do bad things but it’s not my fault” theme. Just like when Cole tries to defend Alicent to Aemond by saying it’s Rhaenyras fault she’s two faced because she corrupted her. It’s indicative of our current social climate and how people love to blame everyone else for the horrible things they do and nothing is their fault. Daemon is a savage and still sympathetic. Just sayin.
